Nature Park Groote Heide; resourceful by nature
The aim of this project is to create a borderless and inclusive nature park where the harmonious balance of natural beauty and recreational activities is paramount.
Spanning from Pelt in Belgium to the green outskirts of Eindhoven in the Netherlands, Groote Heide emerges as a diverse and multifaceted border park of special value. The unique biodiversity, the variety of smaller nature reserves and the presence of fens and streams all contribute to the park’s magical allure. Groote Heide offers an impressive range of routes and recreational opportunities for both the enthusiastic adventurer and the more leisurely visitor. Efforts are underway to forge partnerships with local organisations and residents who would like to partake in, among other things, the search for imaginative stories, in serving as hosts and guides, and in increasing the involvement of those target groups that are not yet acquainted with the park’s unique natural splendour.
Involvement and impact
Breda University of Applied Sciences focuses on researching and measuring the effects of tourism and behavioural influence in Groote Heide. In addition, the social impact of the project’s various interventions on the area’s visitors and residents will also be studied. All initiatives and activities will have been completed by February 2027 and visitors, residents, municipalities and other organisations involved will fully enjoy this undoubtedly positive impact on Groote Heide.
