Successful introduction weeks for new students
The introduction weeks of Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) were quite a success again this year. During the introduction events in the last week of August, students get to know their classmates, lecturers and other students – as well as BUas and the city of Breda, of course. Our academies had put together varied programmes - full of activities that were educational and fun in equal measure – to welcome their new students.
- About BUas
Academy for Built Environment & Logistics (ABEL)
The ABEL introduction event welcomed 190 Dutch and international students to the campus. They then left for Westelbeers. A highlight of the programme was the famous sports day, where students and lecturers competed against each other in a number of playful sports games. It was a week full of fun and socialising.
Academy for Games & Media (AGM)
About 250 students from the Netherlands and abroad participated in this introduction week, called Camp Lost. A varied programme awaited them, including a playback show and a scavenger hunt. It was wonderful to see how the activities fostered connections among the students.
Academy for Tourism and Academy for Leisure & Events (AT and ALE)
Unexpected Journey, the joint introduction event of Tourism and Leisure, began with a bike ride to Tulderheyde campsite, where the official opening and a party night took place. But the programme contained so much more: a sports and games day, a foam party, the ‘Cravattentocht Sing-Along’, and a festival day followed by a smashing themed party: Night at the Zoo. The diverse programme provided a lot of fun and interaction.
Academy for Hotel & Facility (AHF)
Hotel & Facility's introduction week, called Intersib, was attended by 305 new students this year. The theme was Valley Festival, held at swimming pool De Warande in Oosterhout. With the help of 100 volunteers, students enjoyed a varied programme. Just think of a BOHO festival with picnic, a music bingo, a barbecue, a food truck party, a sports day called Denim Day, and a beer cantus. Plenty of entertainment, in other words!
