Extra support (during your studies)

During your studies, do you want to improve certain skills or learn to cope better with the challenges you experience? Or would you like to make use of financial assistance?  We are happy to offer you that extra support.

Need extra help?

You may be in a situation that makes studying difficult. This could be a permanent issue, such as an impairment or disability, but also something temporary. Perhaps you have fallen behind in your studies because you had to undergo surgery, you have a burnout, or maybe a loved one is seriously ill or has passed away, making it hard for you to study. We are here to help you solve these problems. We do so through certain arrangements, but also by means of personal guidance.

BEST training

We offer you a wide range of skills and behavioural training courses under the name BEST, which stands for Better Studying. By better, we do not mean raising the bar. On the contrary, we want to contribute to your well-being in an accessible way. We do this by offering all kinds of training courses that can help you deal with your studies in a pleasant way, making you stronger.

The BEST training programme covers skills and behavioural training. Think of developing study skills, studying with dyslexia, or learning to cope with fear of failure. But we also offer mindfulness sessions, for instance. Taking part is easy; you can choose a workshop or a short training session, for instance. In this way, you can discover for yourself whether it is something that can benefit you. If you study at BUas, you can sign up for BEST training sessions via the portal.

Financial support

As a student, you are entitled to student finance, depending on your age and nationality. If you receive student finance and you incur study delays, or if you have to terminate your studies early due to your disability, there are a number of financial schemes you can apply for.

Financial support from DUO
If you fall behind in your studies, if you are forced to stop your studies, or are unable to graduate within ten years, you can apply to DUO for financial support. There are various schemes ranging from extending your student grant to converting the loan into a gift. To qualify for a DUO scheme, contact your student counsellor. They will assess whether you qualify for a special provision and which provision best suits your situation.

Financial support from Breda University of Applied Sciences
You can also submit a request for financial support from the Profiling Fund of Breda University of Applied Sciences. For more information about this option, please contact your student counsellor.
